The Letter
Once you’ve selected your election candidate, its a good idea to contact them and explain why you’re voting for them. You can find their email address on our candidate database. Here’s a draft letter for you to send…
Dear XXX
I’m writing to let you know that I’ll be voting for you in the upcoming general election. The reason for this is less to do with your party and more to do with your age.
Our generation faces a pretty grim future. We are up to our ears in debt, jobs are scarce and underpaid, education and housing is becoming unaffordable, there’s a looming pensions deficit, and on top of that, we’ve got the environment to deal with. This is the legacy that has been handed down to us from our parents, the Baby Boomers. Soon they’ll be retired and we’ll be left with the bill; so it’s only fair that we decide how the money’s spent.
There’s not a single MP in parliament that has paid for their education, or had to borrow six times their salary for a house, or had to beg for a low-paid short-term job. They can’t act in our interest, because they have no idea what it’s like to live like us. But you do, and that’s why you’ve got my vote.
This election is the one big chance to take control of our future. And I’m relying on you to help make it happen.
Yours
XXXXXX
